Jean-Daniel has a Master's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne..

After his apprenticeship as Mechanical Designer, he followed the mechanical engineering degree program at the University of Applied Sciences in Lausanne. As mechanical engineer for a Swiss company active in the space industry, he worked on the design of mechanical ground support equipment, principally for ATV and ATLAS V Payload Fairings.
In 2005 he began working as a scientific collaborator at the Centre de Recherches en Physique des Plasmas at the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne EPFL (CH). He is involved in conception, dimensioning, and optimization of a part of the electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) antennae in the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER). He is also the industry liaison officer for the manufacturing of prototypes.

Jean-Daniel is one of the co-founders of Almatech.
